Poetry Lab: Poetry in Action

Poetry in Action is a hands-on creative laboratory where words are explored, tested, transformed, and brought to life. Through a combination of readings, images, photography, writing prompts, and collaborative exercises, participants will discover new ways of writing, reading, and experiencing poetry.

Drawing inspiration from renowned poets such as Rubén Darío, Walt Whitman, Arthur Rimbaud, Alejandra Pizarnik, Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson, César Vallejo, T.S. Eliot, Charles Simic, Ocean Vuong, and many others, participants will engage in dynamic discussions and writing exercises designed to spark creativity and encourage personal expression.

This workshop welcomes both emerging and experienced writers. No previous training is required—only curiosity, openness, and a willingness to experiment, create, and discover your own voice. Throughout the program, participants will write from images and photographs, work with unexpected words and prompts, reimagine existing poems, explore memories, family stories, and everyday experiences, and collaborate on collective writing exercises. The laboratory will conclude with a poetry recital featuring participants' original work.
